Owner & Facilitator
I recently changed career paths from the Human Resources field after 30+ years with one institution as I felt I could no longer help people in the way I wanted to. My educational background includes: a B.A. from the University of Alberta, a Massage Therapy certificate from Grant MacEwan Community College, certification in Human Resources Management, also from the U of A. I also very recently completed my certification as an English riding instructor with the Certified Horsemanship Association; my Life Coach Practitioner certification with the Certified Coaches Federation and my Equine Assisted Learning Facilitator certification with Equine Connection and the Equine Assisted Learning Network.
Co-Facilitator & owner/facilitator with Journey of Dreams
Mel has had a deep, driven, forward moving passion for horses as well as helping people since she was a very young child. She was always found hanging out in the pastures with her aunt and uncles horses. She built her first partnership with her own horse at the young age of 16 with a five year old mare, which carried her through those teenage struggles that everyone goes through. As life progressed for her in a couple of different career directions and starting a family, Mel purchased an unbroke two year old quarter horse. That soon after definitely brought new meaning to true partnership between horse and person. As well as a continuous guide to the dream career that she is so passionate about and proves to be her true purpose on earth. Little did she know at the time how much that horse that she calls Duke was going to be her teacher, healer and strength through some of the hardest battles that life will throw at her. Which led her to the amazing Equine Assisted Learning program through Equine Connection, for the start of her own career of Equine Assisted Learning - Journey of Dreams. Where she can share the gift and teaching moments that horses brought to her life with others for their own life journey.
